All our devices including pc's and servers are on the same internal 192.168.40.0/24 subnet.
We are thinking about purchasing a Sonicwall 4100 and will want to configure one of the ports as a DMZ and move all our servers to it. But this means changing their IP address to another subnet.
The current router is a Cisco 2800 with a ADSL Wic card connected to the internet.

What problems would changing the server IP range cause on the LAN bearing in mind that we're on a workgroup and will be moving to a domain in the near future? Bit worried about shares etc.

Would the two subnets need routing between them on the Cisco. Ie, for one subnet to see the other would have to go through the router?

Is it worth doing?

Thanks

The sonicwall will do the routing for you. Just choose a different subnet for you DMZ ex. 10.0.0.X. Then make sure the firewall rules are set to let the LAN and DMZ have access to each other.
