I have several email accounts in my Outlook 2003. I want to make some rules (mails sent from my different accounts go to different subfolder in sent box) for "sent box". But I entered "tools->rules and alerts", I found I can only make rules for inbox. Anyone know how to do this? Thank you so much!

OS: Windows XP

You can make the rule(s) as you normally would. Don't select it to run automatically. Instead, you will need to run it manually on the 'sent items' folder.

In the "rules and alerts" dialog. There is a list box named "Apply changes to this folder:", within which I could only find "inbox" item, but no "sent items". Could you please say a little bit more details? Thank you!!!

Yes, make the rule(s) for the inbox as you normally would. When you get to the end of the Rules Wizard, remove the check from 'Turn on this rule' because you don't really want it to run automatically in the inbox. When you Finish the Wizard, will will be shown the Rules Wizard list - the new one(s) should not be checked. Now, from here is where you run the rule manually. Leave the new rule unchecked & click the Run Now button. Near the 'run in folder', click the Browse button & browse to your Sent Items folder. Check off whichever rules you want to run & then click the Run Now button.

Just be careful & methodical when you do this. If you aren't careful you could easily run the wrong rules on the wrong folder & end up with results that you don't intend.

It works! Thank you! Such a strange way:) Why does not M$ make it a similar way as we do for inbox item.

Hello Olin,
there is also another option which will send the "Sent Items" to any folder you want.
Tools-> Forms > Design a form
Find the " message" template
Click the "Options" button on this template
In the delivery options check " save sent..." and browse the folder where you want the sent iteùs to be sent
Close the Options window
Save the template to a convenient location.
From now on all your sent items will be sent to the folder you chose without you having to intervene, providing you use this template.
Good luck

André
