I'm not sure this is the correct forum for my question, but I could not find another that looked correct. Can someone tell me the steps required to make DVD's from my VCR's. Thanks, everyone. Larry

Those links are great, but here's a short synopsis for doing this on your PC:

- You need a capture card.
[tab]Some video cards do have this ability, but most are output only. Usually you'll see the term VIVO (Video In Video Out) to describe that feature on a card. If you don't have that ability now, then I recommend purchasing a Hauppauge PCI card, which you can install with ease without having to replace your current video card (The WinPVR-250 model is great for the price).

- The capture card will come with the software you need to convert incoming video to a file on your PC.
[tab]Another reason to grab a Hauppauge is especially for this step. They have a ton of options when capturing video, and give you a lot of control over the quality. One setting is to write it in the MPEG-2 740x480 format, which is preferred for DVD video. Keep in mind that capturing video can take up a lot of space on your hard drive, so that might be another item to look at here.

- Use DVD authoring software to compile and burn the DVD.
[tab]Software needed for this step typically comes with any DVD burner you buy these days. I'm assuming you have one. If not, some of the best prices can be found on Be sure to buy "retail" versions of a DVD writer, which has the software included.

That's about as short as I can make it. There's a ton of info on the net and at this site that you can search for.

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but you could use VCR with a DVD burner in it.
