I am setting up lab computers for student and teacher use. I do not want anyone to save to the desktop. When anyone logs on their local profile is removed. I tried denying write permission on the USER group to the Default User profile. That did not work because the User group is not added to the new profile when a new user logs on. Any ideas?

locate the user's ntuser.dat file and rename it to ntuser.man. they'll be able to save to it, but next time they log back on, none of their changes will have taken effect.

hope this helps

Well...What happened is I backed up a teachers lcaol data to his network drive, re-imaged his computer. The teacher then moved 5 years worth of student grades to his desktop. Nw they are gone. Unfortunately I have to account for silly end user mistakes so I do not want them to ever have the option to save to the desktop.
