I have 2 NT servers running and I want to know if the second server added to the domain was installed as a stand alone or a BDC. I want to promote server #2 to PDC and remove server #1 so I can remove it from the domain and rebuild it. Also, when promoting a BDC to PDC controller, does it replicate permissions for Exchange servers installed in the domain?

Thanks for any assistance in this matter.

On the server1 (PDC), at Server Management, you can see if the server2 is a BDC or a standalone server. Also, if the server2 can administer the servers and accounts, it should be a BDC.
Your exchange server is a 5.5, right? It should be able to find the right PDC.
