hi guys,
can any one guide me how to join an small bussiness server 2000 to an exiting 2000 network, actually i am trying to use only fax service on SBS, i already have exchange runing on my 2000 server, how can i join this SBS server just as a stand alone server,i want use the fax service from SBS with exchnage on 2000 adv server, thank you in advance

If it's only going to be a member server, just plug it in, boot it up and set up an account on your PDC for it...
If it's only a fax server talking to exchange, then you can stop and disable some of the services too...

Good luck

but when i install SBS its asking me to name it as a Domain,
there is no option to just join it to my present domain,
can you tell me how to join SBS to my present domain, and use exchnage for sharing the fax.
thank you,

AFAIK, SBS won't allow you to join an existing domain directly.

I heard there is one possibility to get it to work though (I haven't tried it.)

Basically, install Windows 2000 Server (NOT SBS) onto the computer, and join this computer to the domain. Then DCPROMO this to be the PDC, then run SBS setup and upgrade the server.

Have a copy of 2000 workstation??? that would work too if you're only looking for the fax service... Some of my clients have exchange installed on either/or windows NT/2000 running a mix of windows 98 and 2000 for the fax service.
You don't really need the server...

good luck.

Daniel i think i can try urs but,
ares69 says that we can fax service without a server, i have 2000 workstaion also, but i want to how can i share a fax serive intalled ok workstation, i was thinking of SBS bcoz it has a fas service with it, do u want me to buy some third party fax service, and install,
can you tell me how to install a fax serivce on workstaion and share it will all my users(5) who are using XP,
thank you,
-Gos

Wouldn't the fax sharing software be easier and cheaper overall??? I've used winfax version 9 and 10, it installs in minutes and is fully network aware... Notifications of incoming faxes to every machine, users can take what fax is theirs and you can fax from any workstation...

Don't know where you are but I can buy it here in canada for about $150. Leave your $$$ server for something else...

But that's only me :)

Good luck. ~ Whether you think you can or can't, you're right. Henry Ford~

Actually i have SBS license, but we are not using it, thats the reason i want to use SBS for fax, can u suggest anything,
thanks.
