How to install MSDE 2000 SP4

Hi all!

We run ePO 3.6 with MSDE 2000 as the default database. I am trying to upgrade the MSDE instance to SP4 but am unable to do so as I keep getting an error message saying that the instance name specified is invalid when running Setup.
Has anyone done this before and if yes would appreciate on how best to do it.

I don't know if this will work for ePO 3.6 as the below procedures were used with my ePO 2.5.1 setup several years ago and worked for me. Make sure you have a good backup of the system (Ghost image?) in case this doesn't work for you or screws things up. (Anything SQL and I'm scared) I cannot guarantee that this will work for your situation. Use at your own risk.

1. Stop all the ePO services.
2. Stop the MSSQLServer service.
3. Double click on SETUP.BAT from within your extracted MSDE 2000 SP4 folder.
4. Select Next at the Welcome screen.
5. Select Yes at the Software License Agreement window.
6. At the Connect to Server window, select The SQL Server System Administrator login information (SQL Server Authentication) option.
7. Enter the SA password into the password field.
8. At the Start Copying Files screen, select Next.
9. At the Authentication Mode window, select Mixed Mode.
10. Enter the password for the SA account and confirm the password.
11. At the Setup Complete screen, select Yes, I want to restart my computer now.
12. Select Finish to reboot the server.
