how-to: implement a master/detail scenario

does anyone can give me a hint or an algorithm on how to implement a master/detail ie., order/order_lines scenario for my OLTP database. i would probably use textboxes for my master table form and a table for my detail table form. Or, is this possible?? Or, has anyone uses php/apache/mysql for its OLTPs??
