Don't think you can hide it completely, jsut stop people from doing anything with the programs in it. Explain what would be the reasoning and maybe we all can find an alternative.
the reason, is , i have a small remote access client installed, has the port # there, i just dont' want people to change this,
Keep in mind this workstations are in a public centre, so there is a lot of actions going on
What O/s are you running? I would use the built in Windows TS or Remote desktop if XP instead of a third party RD software. I do however see your issue. However, if you handle your restrictions properly if it is a public system you can prevent users from modifing the settings of that software. That again is dependent on if the software that you are using is good enough to follow you restrictions set by your domain.
Win Xp pro remote desktop works really nice because it uses the NT authority for security and passwords. However the port that it uses is extremely public . So if that's more of an issue I am not sure what to really suggest. Basically RD uses one port only and you can't change the port hence no one can mess with it but with the right polilcies set in place no one add delete the RD user settings.
