Hello. I want some air filters on my computer's intake fans, and was wondering on the best way to do that. At overclockers.com, there was an article about cutting up some sort of cleaner pads and taping something to the case, etc. but that seems kinda messy. Is there any "normal" way of having air filters on my intake fans? Any suggestions on where to get real air filters that would fit nicely? Thanks.

If you check an industrial supplier like Electrosonic, or someone who supplies OEM parts and equipment you should be able to find actual fan filters that have proper plastic or metal frames that match up with your fans perfectly.

they have offices all over.

Me, I have a piece of the same foam you would find on a humidifier drum ( the big old 2 1/2' vertical drum kind )sandwiched between the fan and case. This foam is also used on a lot of "shop-vacuums" and can be found at many retail stores. It looks good and is washable.

remember tho.. if you are going to filter the air, there is a reduction in air flow, and you should check them often , cause once they are dirty you wont get hardly any air into your case. Also, if you do this you should be "pressurizing" the case instead of drawing air through - that is the fan(s) with the filter(s) should be sucking into the case, so all air coming in is cleaned. Most PC's use a fan to draw air out, and therefore air is sucked into every nook and crack in the case, along with the dust.

Wow, thanks for that URL! I just saw the term "45 PPI" on the website (describing their filters) and did a search for it, and found a place to order filters! :)

Ah darn.. I just got the stuff and found that my case won't let me put those filters on the fans. I'll look around for the humidifier foam then. :)
