How to get rid of the hissing sound when watching dvds ?

My sound card is Live DE 5.1,DTT-2200 and sony DDU-1211.Using spdif connection.Power dvd software.
 
Try matching the output/volume control of the front speakers with the sub unit and decrease the system volume. Also you may want to try changing the speaker cables to a more insulated cable and make sure that the cables are free from close contact with other cables. This should help to decrease the outside impedence. Hope this helps.
 
Eh, I have the same problem. Turn down the volume in your computer until it's just one notch. Then adjust your speakers to get the volume you want.

I have to mute the CD-ROM when I'm not watching DVDs though. The constant hiss drove me crazy.
