use frames and have your mainframe called index.htm or default.htm that way you can just point at a folder Live long and make your kids suffer..

You can use sub-directories, for example

would have index.html and products would go into a directory

and the page would be index.html ... and so on for all sub directories... takes a little forethought when developing the site When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.

Hi,
thanks for responses. I am so not a fan of frames, so would like to use the other method as shown by viol8ion. Is there any way you could explain this further? Do you mean rearrange where the files are stored on the server so to speak. i.e. rearranging storage?? I'm not sure how this would get rid of the need for using the extention.

Basically, if you were to move your product files into a folder called "products" on the web server and locally, and made sure that the first page that you want the client to see is called default.htm/index.htm/home.htm etc. then simply by typing the name of the folder after the url:

the webserver will look for files which are called default.htm/index.htm/home.htm etc. and display that without the initial page name.

However,. once you then click on a link for product1.htm then your file names will show again.

It shouldn't really be a problem though. Derren

I'd agree with Darren.
The best way to do it without frames is to name the folder the name of the page you want, put the page that you want to open, like darren said.
Simple, clean and easy.

Hi everyone.

This has been a very informative thread. So much, I want to save it. Does anyone know if you can add a thread to "My Threads" without actually participating in the thread?

Thanks.

Nevermind. Now I noticed the BIG red check mark stating "click here to mark this thread for e-mail notification". I need to upgrade my eyewear prescription.

Anyhow, Thanks.
