how to get only Month and Year from a date?

I would like to get month and year from a date field, and count the record for each month in three years. Does anybody konw how to do it.

have you got something started you need help with?

there are a few threads on the date day,year, month etc.. below and the FAQ on "Formating date time.. should give you the data you need and then just perform the calculations on that return
