How to get control of other application

Hello, I want to freeze the Explorer5. I manage to get the cwnd and to put a hook on it. That aloud me to receive or send message to the window. I can even draw on it. BUT I DID NOT find how to get complete control of the application Explorer5.

May be getting control of its thread or to stop the application receiving any message will be the answer. It's like a spy application but we a step ahead.
