How to get Audix available from outside line...

Hi,

I am trying to work out how to get Audix available from outside line...the problem is the Audix extn # is 4999. Our DDI range is 8xxx. Therefore I want to be able to call 8999 and for it to go straight to Audix. I can do this by setting up an extn and use a coverage path but did not really want to use that as we are pretty short on ports.

Any ideas using VDN's or anything similar?

The following simple vector will work:

01 wait-time 2 secs hearing ringback
02 route-to number xxxx with cov n if unconditionally
03 stop

xxxx is the ext. number of your Audix hunt group.

Forgot - Make 8999 a VDN and point it to the above vector. I don't believe vdns count against your port count.

You can also change the audix hunt group access to 8999. This is the simplest way to do it, as long as you have programmed any audix access keys on your sets as abbreviated dials and have the 4999 in an abreviated dial list, not programmed as autodial to 4999 keys. If so, you simply have to go into that list and change it to the 8999 number. Of course if people are used to actually physically dialing 4999, that may not be so good.

Actually, on second thought, there is one other way, even simpler, if you have digital trunking. On the incoming call treatment form, translate the incoming 8999 to 4999. For example (assuming the CO is sending 7 digits in this case)

did 7 231-8999 7 4999

The fileds for the above entries are Service Feature, Called Len, called number, delete & insert respectively.

The solution you have will work. Just use an exported number with a coverage path.

I'm not so sure an x-ported number will work, it may send it's ID into audix & come up with a non existent mailbox message rather than the prompt to enter your mailbox number.

If you do the exported station with a cover path, you would have to "change auto routing" in the Audix to and include 8999 as a login.

That said, if I were programming it, I would program with the VDN and vector.
