- I am use Win. NT 4.0 server. But when the station delete file. I can't get file deleted to recover.
How I can to get deleted file ? because that file is important.

- Why the trustee rights in NT sever, does'nt work in Norton Commander. Because, when I was create trustee rights in a directory or file is Administrator. In the station I am logon in to server with user. And try to delete that directory, and the directory is deleted, Why ?

As for the deleted file, you will need to restore from backup.

Sorry dont use Norton Commander!!

I'm new to NT Administration, coming from Novell. Novell has had a "salvage" function for YEARS. Why doesn't NT Server???

As for the salvage thing, if you have deleted files from a local drive they will be in the recycle bin

Hi Paulovey, I meant if a client workstation deletes a file on an NT server it cannot be salvaged by either the workstation user or the administrator on the Server. Novell has this. It seems like a bit of a shortfall in NT.

I wanted to inquire about the same thing but since I saw this post, I will ask here. I myself came from the Novell world. In Netware, if a user accidentally deletes a file, you run salvage.exe and BAM, the file is back, ANYWHERE on the network, not just on the local drives. In the NT world??? Some user accidentally deletes a file, DUH? gotta get out the backup tape and restore. If you do incr. backups on the weekdays, you may need to go to the last full backup to get the file. Pain in the ass. Anyone know of any "salvage" type utility for NT/2000 server??
