Many years ago, in our old friend Lotus 1-2-3, there was a feature wherby if you pressed [END] then any arrow key, you would jump to the next blank or non/blank cell in that row or column. For example, let's say you were in cell C2, which was not blank. Assume column C has some blank cells and some non-blank cells. If you pressed [END][DOWN ARROW], you would be transported to the next blank cell in column C. If you repeated the action, you would be taken to the next Non-blank cell, etc.

Does anyone know if there is a similar feature in Excel? It would be very handy when you have a 30 column, 8000 row worksheet, to be able to find out if for example there is anything in column F, without having to scroll all the way down and look at all 8000 cells.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Sawedoff,

"Navigating" in Excel is actually very similar to 123.

The following are the same...

<End> <Home> - locates the last cell

<End> + any <Arrow> key - will take you to the next BLANK cell, if you are ON cells with data. -OR- if you are on a BLANK cell, it will take you to the next non-blank cell.

This is only a brief list. If you check Excel's HELP, you'll be able to get a more complete list.

Hope this helps.

OK, I have tried those exact keys, and it always goes to the last line of the data area, similar to Ctrl-End, except it stays in the same column. However, most of my large worksheets are downloaded data from an iSeries. I tried it on a new worksheet, with keyed data, and it works. I guess my downloaded data must contain either spaces or unseen data. I should have known that.

Thanks guys.

Also take a look at Edit/Go to/Special/Blanks, and Tools/Options/View and check the "Zero Values" checkbox, so you can see if zeroes are being displayed as blanks.

sawedoff - almost certainly the case is that you have either "" or " " in the cells that look blank
