since i'm a newbee, sorry

i have an autoloader w/ 18 tapes that are LTO 2 ultrium's

jobs are failing w/ no storage left,

how can i ensure i'm erasing/formating the new tapes when i put 18 used ones back in that have/should been expired ?

i was told to Inventory robot after puting all tapes in, select update Volume configuration, and hit OK
but i think i'm missing something to tell the device to erase/format the tapes ???
or will it "overwrite" automatically ??

thanks for any help

Once a tape has expired then the system can reuse/overwrite it. However they must be in the correct pool, scratch or pool asigned to the job. You should not need to erase or format tapes. Infact this is not a good idea as the system will think it has the old and new tapes. Inventory the robot is good but there are some things you need to do more than just hitting OK. What pool are the new tapes assigned to? What bar code rules have been set up? What type of tapes are they added as?

What is the exact error you are getting, 96?

Yes 96
unable to allocate

all in volume Pool Data
i was told it would overwrite

???

Move all the none assigned tapes into the scratch pool.

all the ones not in the autoloader ?
correct ???

No, all the tapes that are not assigned. go to the page on your gui. media and device monitor/media there is a collum 'time assigned' highlight the ones that have nothing in that collum and right click to get the change page where you can move them to a new pool.
