How to end close_wait connections

Hello,

We have a win2000 server running many apps. One of those applications hangs, and many of the connections go to close_wait state (seen with netstat -rn).

Is there any method to force the liberation of a port without rebooting the machine? How can we close "those connections", to be able to start the application on the same port again?
