I have a friend that likes the color layout of this website . Is there an easy way to emulate this? He does not want to completely copy everything that the site has, but really likes the colors and how they are combined.

Its dark gray, and yellow.

If he doesn't want the layout but just the colors, you can try to look at the sites source code and CSS files to figure out what colors they are using.

For instance, looking into their CSS, pretty much the first thing they have is the yellow for their links. Which is #EBCC38

Just apply those colors to the website being built.

Ignorance is not necessarily Bliss, case in point:
Unknown has caused an Unknown Error on Unknown and must be shutdown to prevent damage to Unknown.

you can also make a screen shot and open up in photoshop and use the eyedropper tool to get the color #.

First I recommend the Web Developer Toolbar for Firefox. It allows you to turn on and off the css of a webpage and lets you see what is css and what isn't. Plus it allows you to bring up the css of a page as well. Just the overall layout would be fairly easy to duplicate using divs and css.You will have to create some background images (photoshop?)for some of the effects.
