I'm embeding a template (.dot) into a document (.doc) by opening the document, selecting Insert/Object/Create from File, selecting the template, and selecting the 'Display as icon' option.
This inserts the template OK, displaying as an icon.
However when the user opens the document and views the embedded template, the templates macro does not run.
Is there some way of enabling the macro's?

Hi,
Have you checked the macro security level on the user PCs? Tools | Options | Security. In Office XP, click Macro Security and read the options. A 'high' setting will prevent most macros from running.

Good luck,
BlueHorizon

Have you used the correct autoexec macros in the template?

Autonew are used for new instances of templates and AutoOpen for use when your opening a template. It may be just a case of using a different autoexec macros dependant on what you want it to do.

Also BlueHorizon is correct that if the macro security level is high macros will not run unless from a trusted source (trusted sources must be entered by the user)

Thanks
Colin
