Hi all,

I have some scripts which I want to kick off so other programmers can use them but I don't want to put out the source codes. I know that there was some thread about it some time ago but I can't find it now. Could anybody gimme some link where I can find more information about the possibilty of compiling the PHP scripts and run them as they were plain ASCII source codes?

Any help will be appreciated.

Zend Technologies (the company that produces PHP) has a very good business model. They give away PHP for use as a scripting language, but they charge for software to enhance PHP's functionality.

Zend publishes product called Zend Encoder which will take PHP code and convert it into something equivalent to Java distributable form. For more information, read here:

Yeah I looked at their great products yesterday.

The only problem is... this product is not 100$... its 2000$!!!

Too much for me even if this a must-have when you need to distribute your application.

Anyway I dont mind because my codes are always release under the GPL but my client dont want that :)

Frank,

I meant when I code (personnal stuff) I always use GPL.

When I code for a client, the code belong to him and I dont release it at all, unless I use a GPL application (a customer accepted GPL because he wanted me to adapt OsCommerce).

BTW: Zend Small Business Program* Very interesting!! I'll consider getting this set of software soon!

Frank,

thanks sleipnir214,
I will look at this. But it's quite lot of money for me to get this software :-/
