How to Disable print while spooling?

Does anyone have a suggestion to disable print while spooling on RedHat using CUPS?

You can turn CUPS off using "service cups stop". If you just want to stop a printer, run "/usr/bin/disable printer_name".

Sorry, I didn't make myself clear. I want cups running, I just want to stop the printer from printing while it is spooling data. The printer doesn't have enough memory to hold a lot of jobs in queue, and the last jobs to enter are coming out garbage. Windows & OS2 you can do this. I was wondering if in Linux you could and how.

Accepting and Rejecting Print Jobs

The accept and reject commands accept and reject print jobs for the named printer, respectively:

/usr/sbin/accept printer ENTER
/usr/sbin/reject printer ENTER

As noted above, a printer can be stopped but accepting new print jobs. A printer can also be rejecting new print jobs while it finishes those that have been queued. This is useful for when you must perform maintenance on the printer and will not have it available to users for a long period of time.

No, I want jobs to print, but one at a time. I want the next to wait in the queue until the active job completes.

By default, CUPS will spool all jobs it can into the printer's memory instead of keeping them in queue.
