How to disable messenger from popping up?

Hi,

How to disable microsoft messenger from automatically popping up everytime you start the system.

Disable the messenger service

When messenger is in the task tray, right click the icon and go into open.

Then
Tools
Options
Preferences and there it says 'start up when windows starts' or something like that
