thank you

Is the computer set up as a Windows Steady machine?

Robert Wilensky:
We've all heard that a million monkeys banging on a million typewriters will eventually reproduce the entire works of Shakespeare. Now, thanks to the Internet, we know this is not true.

i dont know what you mean. this computer has been depressed by someone. sadly i dont know how to reset it. thank you.

Have you looked at Windows SteadyState formerly the Shared Computer Toolkit?

Are there Scheduled Tasks or Login Scripts that run at Shutdown?

Are you part of a Domain or is this just a standalone computer? Is there any Group Policy in effect concerning the saving of settings.

Have you tested from Safe Mode?

I see lots of recommendations here for programs like -

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

SuperAntispyware

See if System Restore will get you back to a restore point before your problem with Explorer.

If they don't work you could try repairing windows by running it over itself. You will lose all your windows updates but your files will be untouched.
