How to determine if a dynamic array is empty?

I used to think UBound and LBound return -1 in the case of empty dynamic arrays but instead I get run-time error # 92 ( invalid bound ). So what is the best way of finding if a dynamic array is empty?

In VB6 you can create a string array with UBound -1 thusly

Dim strW() as String
strW = Split("",",")

However, when translated to VB.Net, you will get a UBound of 0 instead of -1.
