How to close a file without killing the user? 1

If you are trying to update, copy, paste, delete, whatever and a user has the file open and is not at his desk, out to lunch, who knows, can you just close the file without bouncing the user off the system (from the server, consoleone or nwadmin)?

These are usually word or excel files, and not to be confused with the file lock errors - just someone who has a file open in a shared directory.

You can do this from the portal. Open a browser window and type in the server name (eg. You may need to add :8008 to the end (eg:
