Hello,

I would like to change, in the future, my actual primary server (with the DataStore) to another one, in the same farm.

Do you know the procedure?

Thanks.

There is an Advanced Administration guide from Citrix that explains all this.

You should probably move the datastore to a server not in your farm, i.e. SQL Server or a server hosting an MSDE Datastore. Hosting datastore on one of the Citrix Servers is a bad idea.

Hi Patrick, you have to remember that some people out there are strapped for the old cash and are forced down this route.

Whilst I agree the most elegant solution is on a SQL server outside the farm, perhaps it is a single or two or three server install.

Ok so if I put my database on SQL, there is no more concept of primary/secondary Citrix server?

Correct there is none. Althouogh you do have preferred data collectors etc, but not nearly as important. If you have a SQL box then I would recomend doing it.

In my eyes, if you can afford Citrix, you can afford or usually already have another server that can host the datastore. It doesn't need to be a dedicated server unless it's a large farm, and a small farm of 10 or less servers can easily get by with MSDE.

Most people don't run Citrix in a single server environment.

Ok thanks.

Yes, we will in a couple of weeks migrate to 4.0 and in the same time put our database in SQL.

Not going to disagree too much Patrick, but it does happen.

And isterios you ant to create new ODBC connections to your new database too.
