All,

After promoting a domain controller the machine itself is no longer listed in the domain list when loggin in, which prevents logging in locally to the server itself; how would you then reset the local administrators password?

Thanks,

Tom

You can do this from the User/Group part of the Computer Manegment MMC.

The local SAM database is deleted when the machine is promoted so there is no longer a local administrator account.

As porchopexpress has stated, once you make a server a DC you can not log in locally to it anymore.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Regards,

Mark
