I want to change the default situation in which users can enter design mode with the <SHIFT>-key in combination with clicking the short-cut on the desktop. I want to change this key into another. Does anyone know how?

I'm not sure you change the key combination. To disable users from getting acces to the database window, i use the AllowBYpass key setting( see access help), set this to false and i have a password protected area for Admin access or you can user an hidden button on the main form. Also look up help on Autokeys macro .Hope this helps.

I don't know how to change the key combination, but I did find this helpful article in the FAQ's a few days ago. It explains how to eliminate the "shift" trick altogether, yet still leave the developer a backdoor into the database.

I plan to use it with a few of my databases that I have to turn over to some very nosy users.

Many thanks Sukip, maquis. I wasn't aware of these other solutions, but I'm going to try them out.
