Hi,

I am working on a website previously created by someone else, he has the staff photos on the website with blurred edges, I have to add a new photo and I don't know how he has blurred the edges, the background of the web page is white and so the blurring is white, the photo is a rectangle, and the blurring is about 1/2 a centimetre around the whole border.
Could someone explain how to do this? I am using version 5.5.

Thanks.

press Ctrl and click the layer, then without de-selecting, make a new layer, then goto edit-stroke and choose stroke indside with 15-20 pixels, and choose the color to be white. Then goto filter-blur-gausian blur, and choose 4-5 pixels. This should help you, but could you post the website, so that I can see what exactly has been done, and maybe I can give a better method on how to do this.

I think this is what you are looking for. Get your rectangle marquee tool and make a rectangular selection just inside the edges of your photo. Leave about 1/4" of your photo outside of the rectangular selection. Now choose Select > Inverse from the Select menu. Now there should be a marquee that wraps all around your picture about 1/4" thick. Right click on the selected area and choose "Feather" from the pop up menu. Enter in "5" for the pixel amount. Press the delete key to clear the selected pixels. You should have a nice fuzzy border around your picture. This is a great tool, I'm sure 5.5 has it.
