I remember seeing somewhere the script for a batch file which ran automatically when logging off from Windows 98 and deleted all .tmp files.

Anyone know what the script should be and where or where I can find it?

I am not sure about a shutdown script but I do know of a login script that will work.
To delete leftover temporary files from the computer at startup, place the following lines in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file:

@DelTree /Y C:\WINDOWS\Temp
@MD C:\WINDOWS\Temp
