I have access to Dreamweaver MX and need to add a button to an organization's website but don't want to spend all day doing it. Is there any way I can add the button to all of the webpages without messing up the present format and not take all day?
try this one insert the button in one page exactly how you want it to be on all the pages
now the triky part go to code view and highlight some code starting from before the code with the button all the way to some code after the button (so all in all youll have highlighted some code before the button + the coding with the button + some coding after the button)
copy this code
now go to edit>find and replace and where it asks for what you are looking for paste the code there and delete the part with the button so all you want there is the code as if you hadnt inserted the button
then under replace with paste what you copied there and try it our on a page or two and see how it works. If it works on like the first 3 or 4 pages then you should be good to go to apply this to the whole site.
JUST REMEMBER TO BACKUP ALL THE FILES SOMEWHERE ELSES SHOULD THE F THINGS UP FOR YOU YO UCAN JUST MOVE THEM BACK AND REPLACE THE NEW FILES
whos that behind you?
okay, tried it. when i went to apply the button to another site, dreamweaver gave me an error saying that the code was not found in the current document which is weird because the buttons are exactly the same on each page. i tried to add the new button to the existing library and run an update entire site and the update ran but nothing was updated.
