hello,

I would like my users profiles to be by default on my D:\ (datas) and not on C:\ (system)

Is it possible to set this using the group policy object? Where? I would like not to aim on a network path, because I have two servers in load balancing and I would like each server to aim on D:\ (if I use network path I can only specify one server path).

Or another solution?

Thank you.

Hi,

Seen you have 2 servers why aren't you using Roaming Profiles for your users, then you'd be deleting on logoff profiles no longer in use (ie: User logs off)

Cheers,
Carl

I would like not to delete profiles because I have published the virtual desktop and users will personnalize their desktops.

The other problem of roaming profile (I think), with virtual desktop, is that every link on the desktop is seen as a network link (cause paths are network paths).

Is it possible just to put these profiles on D:\ without using a network path?

Hi,

As long as your servers are built the same then links do not put the "\\Servername" in!

Also, don't your users moan at you because they have to set their sessions up twice?

I've got roaming profiles runnin over 26 servers!

I'm not sure about your being able to move the profiles to D: though.

If you want to save space, you can consider the following:-

1) Configure IE to only use 1Mb of Cache and delete it when the browser closes

2) Create a logoff script that empties the UserProfile\Local Settings\Temp directory

3) Locate My Documents to a Network Share drive so they aren't stored on the Citrix Server.

Cheers,
Carl.

Hi.
I just copied the Profiles folder to my D: drive on our NT PDC, checked permissions and sharing and restarted the server. No changes were necessary other than that. after a couple weeks to make sure of everything I deleted the original profiles folder from the C: drive.
It's been 6 months, no worries!
We do use roaming profiles, but I do not see that as being a problem...

Hope this helps,
Corie
