hi i have a w2k server and 2 w2kprofessional, first of all how do i make my w2kserver domain controller, and then add my 2 w2kpros to the domain, please help....

Server:
Type in the run box dcpromo
then hit enter.

Win2K pro: Right click on My Computer and go to properties. Then click on network Identification. Then click on the properties button. Next click on the Member of.. Domain button and type the DOMAIN name there. It will ask for a valid domain Administrator account to do this. ALSO!!! your workgroup name CANNOT be the same as the DOMAIN name you are about to change to. James Collins

Did you change your workgroup name to something different than the name of your DOMAIN? James Collins

Windows 2000 uses DNS to find a domain controller...
Is your DNS set up and working ?
Is your Win2K pro box pointing to the DNS server ?
I have not failed, I just found 10000 ways that don't work

When you type in the doamin name do you put the .com after word? If so do not put it there. James Collins

Check to make sure they are on the same subnet. You could assign them a reservation in DHCP this will ensure they are using the same IP addressing scheme.
