How to add LOG file extension to Access Import?

I have a bunch of LOG files that I need to import into AccessXP. I attempted to import just one, and Access complained that it didn't understand the file format (I had to enter *.* manually in order to "see" the file in the file import browser). I changed the extension to TXT and the file imported just fine.

The short term solution is to change all the LOG files to TXT files, but I'd rather not do that. I would like to add the LOG to the 'text file' selection in AccessXP. How do I do that?

It's a registry thing: part of M$'s drive to make things easier for us!!
(actually I think it's a misguided attempt at security, but you never can tell!)

To fix this you need to edit your registry.
Go to the key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Jet\4.0\Engines\Text\DisabledExtensions


and add your extension to the list.

I'm having problems with the text after import. I think its somehow related to what is referred to as the 'File Orgin' (in Access97) or the "Code Page" (AccessXP). I'm using AccessXP, and when I change this Code Page combo box in the Advanced text import spec dialog box, the 'preview' of the imported file changes. Regardless of how the text appears, I still have the same problem when I view the information in the table.

I have another thread discussing this. Any help you can provide is appreciated.
