How to add an endnote in InDesign

Hello, My version is CS3. I am trying to add an endnote to an already formatted document. I can not figure out how to add one without having to manually renumber each other one in the document. Can someone please tell me what they think I am doing wrong, as well as what could make this a simple procedure to accomplish? Thank you.

...indesign uses footnotes rather than endnotes if this is what you are dealing with?
