How t setup a scanner?

Hi all!

I have a scanner(Umax astra 1220p) and the operating system is windows 98. I have recently downloaded the scanner driver for this scanner. I am still not sure about the hardware/port settings. I have hooked it to one of the ports
(That is the only one to which the scanner can be hooked to)
But, I don't know how to set these in PC (like F1 setup etc..)

Could you please help me in this matter?

If you are using MS Windows 4.x (95,98 etc.) try clicking start then control panel then add new hardware. It will ask if you want it to auto detect, answer yes. If it finds the device and asks for a driver disk click browse and point to the location of the driver, then ok. If it doesn't find any new hardware you'll probably find out there's a setup program required. Don Swayser

I have found loading drivers first, then shutting down and plugging the scanner in and power it up then start the computer up and it should find the scanner.This has always worked for me and with some peripherals is the recommended thing to do.
