I see a search on Google brings up an Epson Expression 1680 Series that is networkable.
Found this on HP:
"The network-ready HP Scanjet 7490 features power you can use: up to 2400 dpi, preview scans in as little as 4 seconds. Includes full SCSI kit for fast connection to PC or Mac. Software includes Iris Readiris Pro 6.0 for converting text to electronic files, special image-stitching software to scan larger objects and Corel Draw 9 image-editing software."
USB and could use SCSI card. Only $899.99
Sharing a scanner is rather amusing. You would have to walk to the scanner then go back to your computer to scan, then back to the scanner to retrieve your original. I could see sharing a scanner if the two computers were side-by-side, though.
On HP's site, I see mention of a program called HP PrecisionScan LAN. Maybe this is what you need?
Most personal scanners that are able to be shared show it as an option in install if you choose custom. I do not believe you will enjoy the scanner serverware as it is usually buggy and a mem hawg (although i don't do hp). better to locate on a centrally located box. IMHO
