I am a newbie in proxy server.
LAN setup - W2k server runs DHCP and around 15 clients.
All machines have access to internet(T1 line - router - firewall-hub). I am planning to install a proxy server on my w2k server and restrict access to internet by username and password. My understanding is although I install a proxy server clients will still be able to access the internet as before. How do I disconnect the internet connection from clients now and How do I force clients to use the proxy server authentication to connect to the internet.?

I am planning to use a 3rd party proxy server. Is there anything which comes with Microsoft or any recommendations.

There are MS firewalls available, their current flavour is "ISA Server" which is decent but comes with a high price tag.

We use MS "Proxy Server II" here; it is basic and has few features but it is reliable and serves our needs. Being £10 from Ebay didn't hurt either.

There are free Linux proxies out there which are well received (Squid being one of the more popular) should you wish to go down that route. I believe there is a Squid windows-port available.

We have configured our firewall by denying anything access out of our network that does not come from the proxy server's IP address; this way if a machine is not properly configured to use the proxy server it will not get internet access.

Thanks for the answer.
We have a CISCO PIX 501.
Could you tell me where should I look in my PIX firewall to block all outgoing connections except from my Proxy's IP address.
