As part of the SOX requirements do any of you have standards for testing your DB restores? Obviously some of you are government and health care have some different requirements. But how often do the rest of you test your DB restores and do you have this scheduled yearly or quarterly? We perform offsite DR testing once a year for our two critical systems and go live with our systems from our offsite location. But for our other systems I only get a chance to test them when we perform Oracle upgrades and hardware upgrades. Just wanted to get some ideas or suggestions. Thanks!

I check my NBU database every quarter. I will restore it to an off the network test server.

i have a cronjob that runs few times each morn, that manually backups the NBU catalog to disk on a separate server. As for user databases we restore whole databases quite frequently as we have to use tapes to refresh our test boxes due to our SAN/Flashsnap processes taking too long to shift data round/resynch etc. But we would still restore the odd database every few months just for peace of mind
