How many client logons to a server are recommended before a significant slow down in the clients logon process?
We have about 150 people in our company and there are 2 servers that can authenticate them. Due to some issues with logon scripts, I want to have everyone authenticate using only one server. Is just using one server for this a "OK" idea?
Thanks

Any reasonable size server should be able to handle that many client logons as long as they don't all have massive roaming profiles and logon at the same time.
The main issue you are likely to be faced with is a lack of redundancy if you decide to have only one domain controller.

You know what Jack Burton always says at a time like this...

Thanks.
You can't have a backup domain controller in Win 2003? That is if the first domain controler goes off line, can a second server automatically pick up the task of authenticating users?

Yes thats correct. You only have domain controllers in Windows 2000 server and 2003 server Active Directory installations, no backup DCs or primary Dcs. So if you have 2 Dcs and one goes offline users can still be authenticated onto the network.
In that scenario you need to think about the FSMO roles (well actually you need to think about them anyway)
