Hi

Just a quick question...

How many processors will Windows 2000 Small Business Server support.

And what are peoples thoughts: 1 fast (1GHz+) CPU or 2 slower ones (500MHz), or 4 even slower ones (200MHz).

SBS has the same specs as Standard 2000 server, so 2 CPUs will be the most it can utilize.

The CPU range you've listed is quite broad, and really unrealistic for comparison. A better comparison would be say a single 3GHz Xeon vs dual 2.2 GHz Xeons.

While the SBS SQL and Exchange components can utilize multiple CPUs, they get much greater benefit from higher performing disk systems and a lot of RAM.

If you're acquiring a new machine, I would go ahead and configure for dual CPUs, as that is the most difficult component to upgrade later. But I would prioritize in the order of : SCSI RAID Disks->RAM->CPU speed.
