For optimal performance how should the database, log files, ect. be devided?

Our Exchange 2000 has a mirrored drive for the sys and raid5 for database and logfiles.

This works ok but is it worth the cost and trouble to add more drives?

I never ran anything other than a straight RAID 5.

Never had an issue. This was with up to 3000 Users on a server. Response was faster than any other Exchange server I have used so I stick firmly that unless you really max out a box that this will work great. Get backups! Dan

Thanks for the responce.
Do you think I'm getting a performance decrease by using mirror (sys, page, ect.) and raid5 (database and logfiles only)?

I hate mirror so it would be my opinion rather than facts. :)

I just have never been willing to depend on mirror. Dan

Here's a great article that should answer all your questions on Exchange 2000 and performance.
