This could be like asking how long is a piece of string, but just wondering if any of you have experience in running this and how long does it usually take?
ie should I set aside several hours or even days for this to run??? My average backup takes about 4-5hours,
Thanks
Babs

Backup duration isn't a reliable indicator because much depends upon the size of the database file, the amount of time since th last check was carried out and the amount of corruption present. However, I did a check recently on a server on which the backup takes 3+ hours, and where the there was a relatively large db with plenty of errors! It took about 20 mins

Processor and disk speed also play a factor.

My own experience has been about 2.5 hours on a 6gb DB - running on dual 1.2gzh processors w/ SCSI PERC raid 5 disk. (No other applications or network access running).

I used to have all this on a PII 300 w/ 20gb Barracuda SCSI - that took about a day to run the check.

I'm not doing this on a regular basis - yet - but hope to automate it some day soon.
