hi

I don't really what to go through the event viewer etc etc

Hey,

A quick way of doing this is by opening event viewer, going to the system log and sorting that by event id order. If you look for the latest event id 6009 it should tell you the last time windows loaded. Or if you go to the view menu, you can use the filter to do this.

Hope this helps.

found also psinfo.exe gave me the uptime in days hours and minutes etc (sysinternal tool)

Uptime.exe from the Reskit will provide this information.

You can always use system idle process from task manager to give you some idea as well.

Thanks, I didn't know about uptime.exe or psinfo.exe.

One thing though, don't ever rely on the system idle process alone. I have had bad experiences with that, one time it had said the machine had only been up for 1hour20mins even though i had been working on it for 5 hours !

Windows XP includes a new command line utility called
systeminfo. It can be used to check the info of any
system (including its uptime) on the network.

From an XP machine type systeminfo at the command prompt
to see details of the machine your on.

Or type: systeminfo /s servername to check a another machine.
