How does one put a link in a reply?

Copy and paste works. I'm not sure that's what you are asking, though.

If you type a nice the link should be there, and links to other threads should go like typing thread209-658418 to have a direct connection ;-)

A couple of interesting things:

1. Use the 'Preview Post' to see/check hyperlinks and other special effects before posting.

2. Copying & pasting a browser link to a tek-tips discussion forum will change the http link to a tek-tips thread link. For example, pasting the http address of this page, will display thread209-658418 in the message.

OK, I can copy the link from the browser address line, but I can't get other links to copy. If I can't copy them, I can't paste them.

Just typing in the address does work though.

Thanks.

Webrabbit,
Presuming you are on windows have youtried using the keyboard copy and paste shortcuts? Highlight the text, press Ctrl + Insert to copy, and then Shift + Insert to paste. Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V also perform the same function.

It was the highlighting that I was having trouble with. Every time I tried to, IE jumped to the link. I found that if I highlight the character in front of the link then the link, I can copy it.

Hi WR,

I had the same problem. I tried to scan the link "backwards", i.e., right to left. Works like a charm. Who knew? :)

Regards, Jack.
