Hello,

we recently had an issue that caused a 2003 server to loose power for only a few seconds but, it was enough to power it off and back ok. When any 2003 server powers back on after an "unplanned outage" a box requires you to enter the information as to why the server went down. I would like to remove this so after a crash of this sort the server will come up normally and resume its expected functions. (We have programs that start at login, but not as a service.)

Out event log is checked daily so, if something does happen we will see that the server went down. We don't need the unplanned outage information entered.

If anyone knows a way to remove this function/feature from 2003 server I would like to give it a try.

Thank you very much for your help.

Robert

There are registry modifications that allows you to remove the Unplanned shutdown question box. Just wondering, don't you have UPSes on your servers ? I'm sure you know that servers (specially Exchange and SQL servers) don't like dirty shutdowns !

Who needs an UPS? All you need is hope, trust, and a little bit of pixie dust. Seriously, rubbing it in probably doesn't help much right now. Rwtreke768 has likely learned the value of an UPS by this point. Think happy thoughts...
