I have a number of old NT4 servers here that have been sitting on their own network ( 8 p.c.'s ) with no connection to the outside world or possibility of disks being inserted in the drives. For this reason we've never updated the old Dr Solomons 4.0.3 software on them. Now however I need to put them on the network. I've tried to uninstall the Dr Sol from control panel and it seems to complete but once I reboot it's still there. I tried to install McAfee over the top but it doesn't like that either. Does anyone know a definitive uninstall process ?

Thanks in advance,

Usually if you install a newer version like enterprise 7.1 it will correctly remove the old anti virus installed, but because you tried to uninstall it first its probably that stoping it from removing when you install the new version.

Things you could try...find the old disks with version 4.0.3 see if it has an uninstall option you might need to install it over the old one before it will remove it due to you trying to uninstall it.

If it doesnt have uninstall option re-installing it on top and then trying and upgrade might remove the old version properly.

If all else fails...you should be able to remove it from your registry manually but please be carefull and take a backup before doing anything as you could stop the machine from working if you remove something that is needed.
