I'm trying to open multiple instances of an Microsoft Access 97 from from Access Visual Basic. I cannot get it to work. How does it work?

As far as I know, you can't do that without having multiple instances of Access open.

Do you really need to do this? If you need a different record, can't you just look it up in the form? If you really need to open multiple instances of the same form, you might have to make a temporary copy of the form, then open the copy.

I think I'd try to find a different way to get the job done, myself.

I think that this would be very hard to do. I agree with the last poster:

1) Use a different approach if possible.

2) If you must do it, you will need to write a ton of VB. You will need to tell it to copy the existing form and open the copy. When the user wants to close the form you will need to tell it to delete the copy. It will get really hairy because the size of the .mdb will expand rapidly. You will need to compact the .mdb frequently

You can do it in A2000. I don't have my Access Book here, i'll check it next week monday. Maybe its simliar to A97.

There are good reasons to do this. The one posted in the book was in relation to purchase orders. If you are working with multiple purchase orders it might be easier if you h ave a couple of pop up forms. Personally i would use a continous form or data sheet as a menu that would open the P.O. form to the Purchase order I wanted to work on, but.. to each his/her own.
